Minutes:  Without objection, the minutes of the October 18, 2016 General Membership Meeting will be approved by unanimous consent.

Treasurer’s Report:  Treasurer Gary Druckrey, Financial Report as of October, 2016.  Balance forward: $14,313.44, Deposits: $4,024, Expenses: $276.45, Register Balance is: $18,060.99, Tournament Fund balance is $1,700.  Current Men’s balance is $16,360.99.  The report is posted on the bulletin board.

Officers Comments/Reports:

President  – Doug Hodson: November 16 is the Turkey Shoot, no Sweeps that day.  The Welcome Back luncheon is on the17th at the REC.  There will be a tent at the site to mitigate the sun but we probably won’t need it.  If you can help with set up and food preparation, all volunteers will be welcomed.

The Ham Shoot will be played on December 14th.

VP – Rick Yeo: We can always use more sponsors for this year’s tournaments.  If you have someone working on your place that may want to help with sponsorship, please let me know.  Don’t be afraid to ask them if they are interested.

Secretary – John Whitney: N/R

Treasurer – Gary Druckrey: (See Financial report above)

Club Liaison – Bob Larsen:  Bob outlined the new parking rules around the Pro Shop and Palm Room.  Only the 5 designated spaces around the Pro Shop may be used to check in and only for 5 min. at a time.  There is no parking next to any Red zone. The yellow zone by the first tee may be used to park when making the turn at #1 or #10.  Violations will result in citations being issued.  It was suggested that the restricted areas be repainted to eliminate any confusion as to where parking is permitted.  The Board will suggest that PDG address our concerns.

Score cards from Tournaments and Sweeps will be collected and posted at a table in the Ballroom or in the foyer of the Ballroom.  Scores will be taken to the Pro Shop from there.

Our request for a 7:30 am start time, rather than 8 am was turned down because Mario’s crew can’t have the course in good shape that early.

Beginning December 7th, we will be asking morning golfers to complete their round of golf and leave the course so the afternoon folks can start by noon.  We will be done with Cart Path only and 90degree golf should go faster.  This will ensure that afternoon players will complete their round before too much darkness sets in.

Please continue to repair divots.  If you wish to join a team who will adopt a green for this maintenance, please let Bob know.

Response to the new flags (Greens) was very favorable.

Member at Large – John Coyle: John reiterated that the current term for officers of the Club is 2 years and that will offer some stability in leadership.  2018 will be the next election.

Bob Bridenbach will be our guest at next month’s meeting.    John also asked that everyone repair their divots to set an example for our peers.

Member at Large – Tony Tilt: N/R

Handicap – Clint Jay:  Although play has been very slow for the past few months, play is picking up and he will be monitoring tee sheets and postings.  Please post scores right away or as soon as possible (within two or three days).  Clint and John Coyle will attend an SCGA meeting centered around how the SCGA will process memberships in the future.  They will get some guidance pertaining to how we will join SCGA directly, or continue to work through PDG.  He isn’t sure why they want this system, requiring the SCGA to extract their costs out and send PDG what we are due.

Clint estimates that the average number of rounds per member is 40 to 50 per year.

Membership – Brian Duckworth: We have added 11 new members to the club this year.

Tournaments – Orest Kruhlak: Applications for the Eclectic tournament on December 7th and 11th are in the Pro Shop.  Please get them in as soon as possible.  If you don’t have a two-person team formed, the Pro Shop will help you out.  It is $50 per person to play.

Publicity – Dennis Hanks: N/R

Hearts & Flowers – David Shaw:  David has sent out a number of cards for illness and deaths.

Hole in One – Ken Gordon: The prize fund for a Hole in One is $70. It was suggested that we all put $5.00 in the fund at the beginning of the year to build up the prize and eliminate any confusion as to who qualifies and has paid in.  It was suggested that our annual dues be increased by $5.00 so everyone is accounted for.  It was unanimously approved by attendees.  To join this year, pay in the $5.00 unless you have paid in $1.00 already, then you pay $4.00.

Social – Howard Hudson: N/R

SCGA – Clint Jay:    See above

Rules – Byron Harvie: N/R

AM Sweeps – Ken Gordon:  Bring green cards (plastic) to Pro Shop for issuance of your playing card.

PM Sweeps – Charlie Fontana: Charlie won’t be available for Sweeps this week so please inquire at the Pro Shop.

Past President – John Coyle:  John introduced Larry Bohannon, who spoke about the history of golf course development in the Desert.  His knowledge of the golf history in this area is impressive and he has a book out addressing the growth of golf in the Valley.  The big question – will Tiger return?  He has an opinion, as do we all but you will have to make up your own mind on the matter.

Parliamentarian – Dale Erickson: N/R

Canadian Representative – Chris Marshall: N/R

Website Management – John Fox:  All the old information from the PDG Men’s Website has been moved to the new Site.  The new site is more user friendly.  If you have any suggestions as to what should be on the site, please let John know.  To access the site, go to pdgmgc.com.

OLD BUSINESS:  None

NEW BUSINESS: PDG approved our request to attach American Flags, separate Branch flags (Army, Navy, Marine, etc) to the trees along the Parkway for Holidays and special occasions.  We will also include POW flags for these celebrations.  This will commence next season.

Closing Remarks: None

Adjournment:  Meeting adjourned at 10:25 by President Doug Hodson.
