Officers Comments/Reports:

President – Doug Hodson:  The Celebration of Life for Dick Dill was very nice and well attended.  Doug paid tribute to Dick, along with family and friends testimonials.  The Men’s Club purchased a brick in his name, thanking him for his service.

Tony Tilt will be out for a while due to illness.

The Men’s Club purchased a new computer for posting scores in the Pro Shop.

Stan Sulimar’s wife passed away after a prolonged illness.

VP – Rick Yeo: Rick addressed slow play and presented some ways to speed it up.  We have had two to four groups backed up on par 3’s and Rick suggested we call up the next group, unless there is an open tee box on the next hole.  Also, start lining up putts before it is your turn.  Be ready to tee off, don’t sit in the cart until it is your turn.   There were other suggestions from the members in attendance and all players should be aware of pace of play and how to improve it.

Secretary – John Whitney: N/R

Treasurer – Gary Druckrey: (See Financial report above)

Club Liaison – Bob Larsen: Once again, I want to thank the volunteers who have worked diligently

to repair ball marks on their assigned holes and to those Men’s Club members who take the time to repair ball marks and fill divots when playing.  Your efforts are very important in ensuring we have outstanding looking greens to play.  Now, we just need to get them smoother and faster.

The Golf Course Maintenance staff will be spraying Olive Trees soon.  Since the chemicals are toxic, the course will be closed while the chemicals are applied to the flowering trees.  Mario will decide which Thursday (March 23, 30 or April 6) is optimum.  The Golf Shop personnel will let us know the schedule.

Those of you on the ball mark repair team who are returning home for the summer, please contact Bob

Larsen (760-601-5624, eagleman1222@icloud.com) to make arrangements for returning your repair tool before you depart.  The tools will be reassigned so the program can continue this summer.

The Golf Committee asked that our membership be reminded that men may not play golf “or practice” on the course before 5:00 pm on Tuesdays.  Your cooperation is requested and appreciated.

Member at Large – John Coyle: John added some tips on speeding up play, such as:  carry a spare ball in your pocket, move carts up around the green to avoid long walks to retrieve them, start lining up putts before it is your turn and continuous putting until you are in.

Member at Large – Tony Tilt: N/R

Handicap – Clint Jay: N/R

Membership – Brian Duckworth: We have 323 members now.

Tournaments – Orest Kruhlak: Presidents Cup entry forms are available in the pro shop.  The tournament is scheduled for March 29th.

The Mini-member tournament is scheduled for April 19th.

The Match Play tournament has ended on time, winners will be posted on the website.

Publicity – Dennis Hanks: N/R

Hearts & Flowers – David Shaw: The following cards have been sent since February 21st:

Get Well cards:    George Gamble                             Diane McGinnis

                                                 Glenn Weller                                   Jim Tatum

                                                 Jim Olsen                                          Tony Tilt

                                                 John Pregenzer

Sympathy cards:  Chuck Thompson                          Sulimoff Family

Thinking of You:   Ginny Sulimoff                               Jim Tatum

Hole in One – Ken Gordon:  We have three hole in one winners this year.

Social – Howard Hudson: N/R

SCGA – Clint Jay: N/R

Rules – Byron Harvie: Byron shared that we had some unfortunate disqualifications for the Men’s and Women’s tournaments recently.  Two men were DQ’d because one of them didn’t putt out and the other signed the card that his score was correct.  Later in the day, one of the other players in that foursome felt compelled, correctly, to report the violation.  To protect the integrity of the game, these violations must be reported and enforced.

The Women had similar unfortunate scenarios when a card was not turned in on time after the play was completed and she was DQ’d.  On another occasion, two players teed off outside the markers but decided to overlook the mistake (2 stroke penalty). Later another person from their group reported the violation because she knew it was wrong and couldn’t live with herself by not reporting it.  Player and “marker” were DQ’d.

Byron has been told by some participants that they won’t play in tournaments because the play is so slow.  As a result of this kind of thing, Byron and his group will be timing foursomes from the time they are clear to hit, until they all finish in an effort to see what is holding up play.  They hope to discover where time is wasted and why.  If they find habitually slow players, they will call them out.

Bob Bridenbach will not hunt down people with score cards, they will be DQ’d if cards aren’t turned in right after the round is over.  If you are in charge of the scorecard, you, not another player, are responsible for turning it in.  The same holds true for Skin’s sheets.

AM Sweeps – Ken Gordon:  N/R

PM Sweeps – Bob Bridenbach (temporary): N/R

Past President – John Coyle:  N/R

Parliamentarian – Dale Erickson: Dale has noticed that about 85% of the time, only the lower tee box is used on number eleven. It would be nice if we could use the upper tee box more often.  Doug said he will address that with Bob Bridenbach.

Canadian Representative – Chris Marshall: The Match Play tournament was completed on time and winners received Bag Tags and $60 for First Place and $40 for runner-up.

Winners were:  Bob Larsen      3&2 over Marty Berry

Orest Kruhlak 4&3 over Mike Brewer

Barry Bugbee  1 up over Larry Miracle

Mike Bennett  5&4 over Fritz McGinnis

The scorecards were hard to read in some cases.  Please take your time in recording scores and eliminate personal notes.

We would like to see more participants next year, especially at $10 to play.

Website Management – John Fox; John toured the website with attendees and pointed out key pages.  He opened many of the portals to show content.  The site is very well done and we thank John for his work.  His screen saver is worth opening the site, beautiful shot of the 11th green and snow on the mountain in the distant.

There is a page with names and email addresses of the Board Members. To access the information, a password must be used (slope94).  A future list of all Men’s Club members and their email addresses may be added, password protected.

For member convenience, scores may be posted on the site.  This is a great feature and easy to use.

John is asking for any suggestions or assistance with the site, please give him a call if you are interested.

You can access the site by typing in: pdgmgc.com.

OLD BUSINESS:  None

NEW BUSINESS: Jim Tatum is starting new Chemo treatments that may lead to Radiation also.  Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Orest Kruhlak mentioned that he has had some complaints about loud radios on the course during tournaments.  Please respect fellow players by turning the sound down.

Closing Remarks: None

Adjournment:  Meeting adjourned at 9:47 am by President Doug Hodson.
