FROM: PDGMGC Handicap Chairman
Gentlemen, welcome to the PDG Men’s Golf Club season. As this year has shown us all “adaptability” seems to be the key to life in our present world and in our upcoming season.
As a way of introduction, my name is Richard Warburton, better known to some as RFW, and I have been appointed the Men’s Club Handicap Chairman for the upcoming season. I am following in the footsteps of Mr. Steve Warren and hope to continue with the progress he has made in the past two years, assuring that all handicaps are relevant and accurate.
To that end, I want to clarify the Men’s Club position on POSTING scores for the coming season. It has been almost a year since the World Handicapping System (WHS) was put into effect. The system requires that all scores acceptable for posting purposes be posted on the day of play. As index’s and handicaps now change daily based on posted scores, it is imperative that all scores be posted in a timely manner. That would be by midnight, PST time, on the day of play.
As many of you are aware, several days (Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays rounds) are considered ($$$$) money games for some and as such, a change in an individual’s handicap, either up or down, can have an effect on winning or losing. Fairness to all is of utmost importance.
Please take this as your official notification that all adjusted scores not posted in a timely manner, will result in a penalty score (the lowest differential score of your most recent 20) as well as the score shot for that day being posted to your GHIN account by the handicap committee.
Should the handicap committee feel that any member has willfully disregarded the rules for timely and proper posting, it may take additional action to remedy the situation.
Golf is a gentlemen’s game, let us all treat it as such and turn what has been a most difficult year, into a golf season full of laughter, enjoyment and fun, shared with friends and family.
