- Introduction of new webmaster for Mens Golf Club Site
Hello fellow PDG Men’s Club golfers. I am excited to announce that I will be handling our website effective April 1st, 2026. As I prepared for this endeavor, I was surprised at how few members utilize this website, but even more surprised by the fact that I could find only a few members that have even heard of it.
It is with this in mind, our Publicity Chair, Gil McKinney, will be sending out an email blast to all members regarding the existence of this site and inviting them to respond with comments, suggestions on how they would like it updated going forward. I believe if this site is utilized correctly, it can be a great way to disseminate information to all our membership in one cohesive location.
We are, after all paying for this site, so please reach out to me if you have any recommendations.
You can reach me at 714-334-1962, or via email at johnmschmidt1@outlook.comA special thank you to our previous Webmaster, Jim Pollard, for all the hours and energy he had devoted during his tenure.
Sincerely
John M Schmidt

- RulesGolf RuleRULES QUESTION: When hitting off of the tee on hole six my ball ended up behind the protective fence around the 7th tee box. Do I get free relief?
ANSWER: The protective fence around the tee box is defined as an “immovable obstruction”. The rules of golf allow you to take relief from the obstruction for lie, area of intended stance and area of intended swing. You are not allowed to take relief for line of intended play. So if your ball is close enough to the fence to impede with your stance or swing you may take relief. To take relief determine the closest point where the ball could be that gives you unimpeded stance and swing that is no closer to the hole. Mark this point (such as placing a tee in the ground at that point”. Drop your ball from knee height within one club length from this spot in any direction as long as it is no closer to the hole than the original lie. If the fence still blocks you from aiming at the green you would need to play the next shot out into the fairway.

• FYI: After our recent monthly meeting and financial update. We have over $5,000 more in funds in our account than we had last year at this time. In addition we had a surplus of over $600 from the Eclectic and have a projected surplus of over $200 for the member/member tournament.
