Officers Comments/Reports:
President, Doug Hodson:
Doug welcomed everyone back and thanked attendees for the nice turnout for this morning’s meeting, a full house in the Palm Room.
There are numerous openings on the Board after this season. We have potentially filled two positions for next season: John Coyle volunteered for the President’s position and Clark Sharar will accept the Treasurer’s seat. Clint Jay will help with the Handicap Chair until we can fill his position. There are three volunteers who have stepped forward to co-manage that position. Doug Hodson, Steve Warren and Ron Jackson have stepped up to relieve Clint of his responsibilities.
If we receive notice from candidates for any positions, we will have an election on March 14th. If no further applicants apply, there will be no election.
We will find out who the new Grounds Superintendent is tonight at the PDG Board meeting. There are three finalists and all three are reported to be well qualified. Mario will work with the new person for one month and then retire.
VP, Rick Yeo:
Rick has signed up 8 sponsors (and received money) for this coming season. He has at least seven more commitments but no money has changed hands. He isn’t worried about them coming through. He asked members to keep their eyes open for potential sponsors as the more we have, the more we will have to spend on tournaments and club activities.
Secretary, John Whitney: N/R
Treasurer, Gary Druckrey:
Doug said those who have been chosen for team play need to get their checks in ASAP. If you can’t play the next round, someone else will be chosen and will pay the entry fee. Check the list that is posted outside. 8 people have been selected for all four rounds but other openings will appear.
Club Liaison, Bob Larsen: There is a new scorecard coming out this season with hole layouts on the back.
The greenbelts will be watered but not re-seeded. They may turn brown with time.
Charlie Hunt has made stone signs for no parking at the Club. They will be displayed when play begins.
Green repair teams are being formed, assuming the new Superintendent wants our help. Please let Bob know if you are interested in helping.
Member at Large, John Coyle:
John is trying to line up guest speakers for Member meetings. He will reach out to Bob Breidenbach to address the group. Doug reported that Peter Donovan (Desert Sun writer) will be our December speaker (Dodger fan). We haven’t heard from Larry Bohannon for a year or so; he remains a candidate.
John also notified the group that our first Sweeps round is the same day as the Turkey Shoot. There will be a $10 fee for the Turkey Shoot but only a $5 fee for the Sweeps if you do not want to participate in the Turkey Shoot.
